Custom Multi-tiered Round Bakery Boxes
A bakery boxes product built as a round box with two tiers in one footprint, and the reason it works is that both tiers stay reachable from the top. The outer tier is a round walled body with its own lid; a smaller round box sits in the centre, also with a lid. Closed, the two lids sit level, so the pack reads as one clean cylinder with a flat top. Open it and the outer tier rings the inner box, so cookie boxes can carry donuts and cookies around a centre well of macarons or chocolates, and nothing touches. A ring insert can be added to hold pieces upright, but the box works without it. Every visible surface prints, the board is food grade, and a grease-resistant coating is available. MOQ is 10,000 pcs and stock samples are free.
One Footprint, Two Tiers
The second tier costs no extra footprint, because the inner box sits inside the outer one rather than on top of it. That is the whole trick: the outer wall, the outer lid and the inner box are cut from the same board, and the inner box drops into the centre well, so the pack stays one round cylinder instead of growing taller. Both lids close level, which is what makes it read as a single box on the shelf. Pack the outer tier with cookies or donuts and the inner box with the item you want kept apart, and a pastry boxes order carries two assortments without two packs.
A Flush Top That Hides the Second Tier
Closed, there is no visible seam and no step: the inner lid sits level with the outer lid, so the top is one continuous surface. That is deliberate, because a stepped lid gives the second tier away and turns a gift into a gimmick. The flush fit is cut to the actual inner lid, not to a nominal size, so the two surfaces meet without a lip or a gap. A customer lifts the outer lid expecting one tier and finds the cookies around the edge first, with the inner box still closed in the middle. Buyers ordering dessert boxes for gifting ask for this fit before anything else.
Board, Coating and Grease Control
Choose the board by what touches it. 350 gsm food-grade white card holds a full ring of dry cookies without bowing; go to 400 gsm once the box is wide, because a wide span sags under its own load. Glazed donuts and butter-heavy pastries need a grease-resistant coating on the food side, since glaze migrates into uncoated board within hours and marks the print from behind. The inner box usually takes the heavier coating because it holds the richest item. Every baked goods boxes order is checked for caliper and moisture before the boards are cut.
Printing the Wall, the Lids and the Inner Box
Four surfaces print: the outer wall, the top of the outer lid, the inner box lid and the inside of the outer tier. That last one matters more than buyers expect, because it is what the customer sees the instant the outer lid comes off, so it usually carries the brand line or a flavour list. Artwork goes onto flat sheets before die-cutting, which holds registration across the narrow ring of the outer lid and stops colour drifting between the two lids. Send the item diameters and how you want them split between the two tiers, and we size the well and the inner box around that. Foil, spot UV and embossing are available on any bakery boxes run.

In-house Production Facility
1. Raw Material Management
Board arrives checked for caliper, moisture and fibre direction, then rests in a dry store so sheets stay flat before cutting. Every lot that becomes bakery boxes is logged against its mill batch, so a stiffness fault traces back to the reel, not to a finished carton.
2. Printing & Production
Artwork prints on flat sheets first, then the outer wall, the inner box and both lids are cut in one pass from the same board, which keeps the parts in register. Each pastry boxes run is proofed against a cutting template, so the two lids close level on every unit.
3. Quality Assurance
Each batch is assembled in full, both boxes are fitted, closed and lifted by the wall before release. Inner-lid flushness, outer-lid fit and board stiffness are logged per lot, so a drift on a dessert boxes order is caught here rather than at a shop counter.
4. Warehousing & Delivery
Finished boxes ship flat and banded by part, with outer walls, inner boxes and lids counted separately, packed in double-wall cartons and stored off the floor. Cartons are labelled by size and artwork version, so a mixed baked goods boxes order is picked without opening every case.
The inner box drops into a well cut into the centre of the outer tier, so its base sits on the same board as the outer box and the well wall holds it all round. That means it cannot slide sideways, and being a box rather than a loose insert, it does not tip when the pack is tilted. The fit is cut to the actual inner box, not to a nominal size, so a wrapped or heavier inner box still sits true. Keep it on the same board grade as the outer wall; a lighter inner box will ride up as the outer lid is pressed on. We assemble and carry one filled box before release.
Yes, and most buyers want it that way, because the inner box is the surprise. Both parts are cut from the same board grade but print as separate sheets, so the outer wall can run a dark brand colour while the inner lid runs a light one that makes the small item read. The only constraint is the flush fit: if the inner box is wrapped in a heavy specialty paper, tell us the finished thickness, because the outer lid is cut to that thickness rather than to bare board. That keeps the two lids level when the box is closed.
Dry cookies are the easy case: 350 gsm food-grade white card carries a full tier without bowing, and the outer tier only has to hold them level. Glazed donuts are heavier and wetter, so go to 400 gsm and add a grease-resistant coating on the food side, or the glaze will wick into the board and print through. If one box holds both, put the coating on the whole outer tier rather than only under the donuts, because glaze travels along the board as the box is carried. Tell us what goes in each tier and we will set the board and the coating.
Yes, within a range, and it is worth planning before you cut a die. The outer tier is sized to the largest piece you pack, so a 60 mm cookie and a 70 mm cookie can share a box as long as the tier depth takes up the difference and the inner box is sized to the smaller pieces. Mixing a 40 mm macaron into the outer tier beside a 70 mm cookie leaves the small ones free to slide, which is why macarons belong in the inner box. Send the full range of diameters you sell and we will tell you how many sizes the menu actually needs.
