Custom Takeout Salad Bowl Sleeve with Handle
A round takeout bowl is the hardest item in an order to hand over: there is no corner to grip, the lid is not a handle, and a smooth base slides across a delivery bag. This paper bowl sleeve answers that with one die-cut blank. The bowl rests on the base panel, the two side walls fold up around it, and their top ends meet so two aligned oval cut-outs become a single grip with board doubled under the fingers. Nothing is glued at the counter, so the sleeve ships flat and is folded around the bowl in seconds. We cut it from food-grade board to match any salad container diameter in your range, print both panels in CMYK or PMS, and finish in matte or gloss lamination. MOQ is 10,000 pcs, stock samples are free, and production runs 10–15 working days.
One Blank That Folds Into a Carrying Sleeve
Every paper sleeve we make begins as a single die-cut blank, so there is no separate lid, insert or handle strip to keep in stock. The blank carries a base panel the bowl sits on, two side walls folded up on the score lines, and one large arch cut-out in each wall. That arch is the detail that matters: it lets the wall follow the curve of the bowl instead of standing away from it, so the sleeve grips the body rather than rattling around it. Delivered flat and banded in the carton, it opens in one movement at the packing station.
Double-Layer Die-Cut Handle and Balanced Carry
When the two side walls meet, their oval cut-outs line up into one opening with two layers of board under the fingers. Two layers matter more than raw thickness, because the load is shared along the whole arc of the cut rather than pinching at one edge, and the fold above the opening takes the strain instead of the paper around it. The grip sits directly over the centre of the base, so the bowl hangs level and does not swing against a leg on the walk to the door. For kitchens pushing takeaway boxes out through a delivery app, that level hang is what keeps dressing off the lid.
Board Grade, Coating and Grease Control
Choose the board by what the bowl actually holds. A 300–350 gsm food-grade white card or kraft board carries a standard salad or grain bowl, and 400 gsm is the safer call once the bowl is deep or the fill is heavy. For oil-based dressings and warm pasta, a grease-resistant coating on the food side stops oil wicking into the sheet and keeps the print crisp through a long delivery window. A PE lining gives the strongest barrier; a water-based coating suits buyers moving toward fibre-based packaging. Every disposable food container sleeve is checked for caliper and moisture before cutting.
Printing Both Panels and Fitting Any Bowl Diameter
Both side walls print, so the panel that faces the customer carries your logo while the panel that faces the courier can carry a reorder prompt or a QR code. Artwork goes onto the flat blank before die-cutting, which holds registration tight across the fold and lets CMYK or PMS colour stay consistent from the handle edge down to the base. Sizes are built around your bowl: send us the rim diameter and body height and we cut the arch and the score lines to match, so one salad container line can run small, medium and large bowls from a single artwork. Foil, spot UV and embossing are available.

In-house Production Facility
1. Raw Material Management
Board arrives checked for caliper, moisture and fibre direction, then rests in a dry, climate-controlled store so sheets stay flat before cutting. Every lot that becomes a paper sleeve is logged against its mill batch and receiving date, so a stiffness or print fault traces back to the reel.
2. Printing & Production
Artwork prints on the flat blank first, then the arch, handle cut-outs and score lines are cut in one pass, which keeps the handle aligned with the base. Each salad container sleeve run is checked against a cutting template before production, so the fold lands where the bowl needs it.
3. Quality Assurance
Each batch is folded into shape, loaded with a bowl of the specified diameter, and lifted by the handle before release. Handle alignment, arch fit and board stiffness are logged per lot, so a drift on a disposable food container order is caught here, not at a restaurant pass.
4. Warehousing & Delivery
Finished sleeves are banded flat in fixed counts, packed in double-wall cartons and stored off the floor in a dry warehouse. Cartons are labelled by size and artwork version, so a mixed takeaway boxes order is picked without opening every case and counted again before loading.
It holds the bowl in three places at once. The base panel carries the full weight from below, the two side walls close against the bowl's body, and the arch cut-out in each wall wraps the widest point so the bowl cannot shift sideways. Because the grip sits above the centre of the base, the load hangs straight down instead of pulling to one side. A bowl that is noticeably smaller than the sleeve will rattle, so the sleeve should be cut to your actual rim diameter rather than to a nominal size.
Start with the dressing, then the fill weight. A 300–350 gsm food-grade board is enough for a standard salad or grain bowl with a light vinaigrette. Move to 400 gsm when the bowl is deep, when the fill is dense, or when the sleeve will be carried for more than a few minutes. Oil-based dressings and warm food need a grease-resistant coating on the food side as well, because board weight alone does not stop oil. Ask for filled samples at both weights and carry one across the room before you commit.
Yes, as long as the sleeve is cut to the bowl rather than to the menu. The board itself is a moderate insulator, but it is not a cooler and not a heat pack, so the sleeve keeps a hot bowl warm for a normal delivery window rather than for an hour. For a chilled dessert, condensation is the thing to watch: a moisture-resistant coating on the food side keeps the board from softening under a cold, wet bowl. If your menu mixes hot and cold bowls of different diameters, order one sleeve size per bowl rather than one size for everything.
It depends on the lining, and the honest answer is that a PE-lined sleeve belongs in the mixed stream rather than the clean paper stream. Uncoated or water-based-coated board recycles as ordinary paper, which is why buyers under fibre-based packaging targets usually start there. A PE lining buys you the strongest grease and moisture barrier, so it is the right choice for oil-heavy dressings where leakage matters more than the recycling claim. Tell us which stream your market collects and we will match the coating to it.
