Introduction
Working with long-term customers isn’t always smooth — especially when internal transitions bring new expectations, new processes, and new decision-makers.
This case shares how MBP (MaiBaoPak) successfully navigated a major shift within one of our German partners — a coffee brand with 50+ SKUs already developed with us — and turned temporary uncertainty into renewed confidence and deeper cooperation.
Background
Our client is a German-focused coffee chain with a growing retail footprint and a bakery/showroom in Shenzhen.
In the first collaboration, we delivered over 50 packaging designs, laying a strong groundwork for future scale.
In mid-2024, the founder stepped back from daily purchasing and transferred ownership to a new key person — his partner, a professional buyer with strong print and material expertise.
The partnership didn’t stop, but it paused — because the new purchaser needed to re-evaluate everything:
-
Design intent
-
Material performance
-
Supplier capabilities
-
Branding consistency
-
Cost structure
A relationship built on familiarity now required rigorous validation.
